Hours at Troll

I rolled into Troll at Pennsic XLI (41) at 6:30 p.m. after a relatively pleasant 10-hour drive from Montreal. Thereupon I discovered that lightning had struck the merchants’ area right near Troll and taken out the power supply for their new electronic troll-in system, leading to wait times up to 5 1/2 hours. I got stuck right in the middle of it. I decided I could either complain about the situation or immortalize it in verse, and because I’m the Pocket Bard, I chose the latter.

Hours at Troll, hours at Troll
Just pulled in for hours at Troll
I feel a disturbance in the pit of my soul
Please God save me from hours at Troll

Hours at Troll, hours at Troll
My car is stuck for hours at Troll
Couldn’t go slower deep down a hole
Please God save me from hours at Troll

Hours at Troll, hours at Troll
My belly’s rumbling for hours at Troll
Nothing to eat but my leather shoe-sole
Please God save me from hours at Troll

Hours at Troll, hours at Troll
The sun’s gone down on hours at Troll
Darkness is deeper than a mine full of coal
Please God save me from hours at Troll

Hours at Troll, hours at Troll
I finally passed through hours at Troll
Pennsic’s before me and I’m on a roll
Thank God I’ve passed through hours at Troll!
