morning — Marauders

Man, oh man. Went to bed last night at the ungodly early hour of 10 p.m. I don’t usually go to bed that early in mundania, let alone Pennsic!

So, a few updates: Derhilde is back. Her arm is broken in two places and temporarily casted. She’s trying to get a permanent cast on today.

My foot seems to be (finally) on the mend. The swelling has gone down, the redness is less aparent except in the area immediately around the toe, and I can sort of bend the toe that was stung. That, and it itches like a sumbitch.

I had the hardest time falling asleep last night. I imagined that I was feeling all sorts of horrible things. I was slightly short of breath, but I’ve been asthmatic every night this War, even before I was stung. I thought my arms were swelling unti lI remembered I’ve been wearing my armbands and my muscles are just sore. I thought my ankle was swelling but remembered to attribute that to wearing my shoes loose and it’s been rubbing. Yeah, not a fun night last night.

I’ll take it easy today, too. I’ve got classes pretty much straight through from 1:00 to 8:00: Fiana’s Angel of Death Deconstructed; Boreal Master Symposium; Cerian’s Writing Humorous Songs; and the Known World Bardic Congress. So I can spend pretty much all that time with my foot up. Have I mentioned that it itches like a sumbitch? Hopefully I won’t need to go back to Chiurgeons’, because I don’t know when I’ll have a chance to go!

Tonight, if I feel up to it, I’ll probably go to Enchanted Ground.

early afternoon — Marauders

Spent the morning in camp, embroiderying. Finished a Silver Crescent and started in on a Tyger’s Cub. Woot. [Editor’s note: The Silver Crescent is the East Kingdom’s AoA-level award for service. The Tyger’s Cub is an award for children. Both can be seen here.]

Did I mention that I got a new cloak last night? John put it over my shoulders while I was talking soaking my foot and told me that if it fit, it was mine. Apparently it used to belong to his apprentice Gisella and she’s getting rid of it. So yay for that.

Another yay: I was hand-delivered an invitation to sing for my supper on Wednesday at Flamingo Bluff, just down the block. The invitation is from Lady Arelina Poincelin, who I don’t think I’ve met. So cool! My word-fame is spreading. Or something.

Now it’s time for lunch and then a very packed day of classes.

after dinner — Marauders

The afternoon was pretty much spent in one class after another. Things turned out more or less as expected: Fiana’s class was interesting and thought-provoking; the Boreal Symposium was great, and my paper went over well. The seeds of wrongness have been spread.

I ducked back to camp after the Symposium because I hadn’t been drinking enough water and the heat knocked me down. I took an advil and a Benadryl (and two mugs of water and a granola bar) and lay down on the floor of John’s tent for an hour. Got up just in time to catch the tail end of Cerian’s class, catch up for 15 minutes, and head over to the sparsely-attended Known World Bardic Congress. Left that early to get dinner (chicken and couscous). Apparently I just missed Sciath and her baby, but hopefully they’ll be back.

Embroidery update: finished the Silver Crescent and have all the outside yellow part done on a Tyger’s Cub.

Foot update: definitely on the mend. Yay! Still sore and a little itchy, but much improved. I’m gonna keep taking Benadryl (Seraphina picked me up a package today) until it’s all healed, but I am pleased. I think I’ll try to get to Enchanted Ground tonight.

I’ve got John off fabric shopping for me. I gave him a budget of $100 and a general idea of what I want, and we’ll see what he gets. Hopefully enough for a few more tunics and an apron dress. I wanted to go with, but walking that much would be a stupid idea.

I’ll take my next Benadryl around 8:45, and then I’ll head out to Enchanted Ground, I think. Assuming my foot is up for it tomorrow, I’ll try to find some broaches and maybe some glass beads or ambder. Also keep my eye open for gifts. But that’s only if I’m feeling up to it. I don’t want a repeat of Saturday.
